Total Data Service, Inc. began business in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1981 as a data processing service company. In those days, computers were expensive and application software generally had to be custom written. As the cost of computing decreased, Total Data evolved out of data processing servcies, and into a custom software and consulting organization. We helped our customers obtain computers and created application software to meet their needs.

Every aspect of computing technology has changed since those early days. The computers we worked with then no longer exist. Newer, more powerful, "Open" systems evolved to take their place. The old "dumb terminals" have been replaced by Personal Computers. Network environments based on protocols developed for the Internet became the de-facto standard network infrastructure. Client / Server application software is now the norm, and a vast amount of packaged software is readily available to address business requirements.

Total Data evolved with these technologies. We adopted these technologies, learned how to support them in our customer's environments, and implemented them internally on our own systems. However, we've never viewed ourselves as a "technology" company. We are primarily a business consulting firm, and our focus is on business applications of these technologies. This perspective, plus our broad-based experience gives us a point of view that is rare among our peers.
